Artist's Statement

I have this theory that time is the test of everything and that time repairs everything. I also have great faith in the goodness of humanity.
These two ingredients have led indigenous and white Australians to the position of reconciliation. There are a growing number of white Australians who deeply regret the atrocities that their forebears inflicted upon Aboriginal people. These people also applaud and respect the 'regrowing' strength of the aboriginal culture. The wonderful successes of aboriginal people in the arts have brought their talents and ancient culture to a huge global audience that will continue to grow.
I cannot speak for aboriginal people, but the concepts that emerge through my pictures do say 'a thousand words' about my sorrow for the past. Some of the sorrow of the present can alleviated today by your support for the Fred Hollows Foundation and the work it is doing to help indigenous communities in this country.
